Rowan’s hands stilled on his shoulders. She took a step back, and as she did, the air seemed to ripple around her, as though it were suddenly burning hot. Under Samuel’s very eyes, her body changed, gaining a few inches in height, losing its generous curves; her hair shortened, her eyebrows thickened, her jaw became more prominent. The only thing that remained the same was her eyes—his eyes, now: Rowan was giving Samuel a dark, unforgiving look.
“I’ll give you what you are too stubborn to admit you want,” Rowan said, an irritated rumble in his voice.
