Today I'd like to express how thankful I am to reviewers - all reviewers.
I'm always amazed at the dedication of bloggers. Many of them take the writing of reviews as seriously as a (second?) job and put a lot of thought into writing reviews that inform without giving away too much. Their help in getting the word out about new books is invaluable, especially for someone like me who hates 'tooting' my own horn.
I'm also always touched by 'regular' readers who take the time to reach out to write a few words of feedback, whether they send it privately through email or post it online on stores or sites like Goodreads. A blank page can be a very lonely place, sometimes, and those messages from the other side of the screen are a big help in keeping the words coming out.
And finally, I'm thankful to those I call my 'first readers'. Back in December with Under His Skin, and more recently through my YA alter ego, I offered a limited number of review copies to readers who promised to leave feedback for the book online, good or bad. It's easy to say 'sure, give me a free ebook and I'll review it'. It's all to the credit of these people when they follow through, and they have my gratitude.
One last note - when I say 'review' or 'feedback' I don't mean 'glowing, 5 star reviews'. I just mean an honest opinion. I do realize not everyone likes my stories. I also realize my writing, like most writers', has room for improvement. It's the simple act of taking the time to think about why one liked a story or not that I'm thankful for, regardless of the number of stars.
