Shades of Pink Interview - Lisa M. Harley

After giving you teasers of the stories included in the Shades of Pink Charity Anthology in September, this month I'll tell you a little more about the authors involved. I interviewed them with questions about their contributions, their writing life, their works in progress...

Today, Lisa M. Harley

Kallysten - Let me first thank you for taking part in this project. Your story ‘Real Men Wear Pink’ features characters from your Destined series. Can you tell us a little about it?

Lisa M. Harley - I’m so happy to be a part of this project…so thank you! Now about the Destined Series…it will include five books: Destined to Change, Destined to Succeed, Destined to Forgive, Destined to Rock, and Destined to Overcome. Each book includes characters that were introduced in Destined to Change, but the other books can be read as stand alone novels also.

The series is set in small-town America, but it’s not all about cowboys. There are plenty of hot pierced guys with tattoos too. ;)

K - How did you get the idea of this sequel of sorts?

LMH - I knew that this short story needed to involve the color pink and I immediately thought about a pink western shirt. I could clearly see it in my mind…and out of all of my guys, Jaxon is the one that could totally rock it. Also, I liked being able to work the kids into the story…they are a huge part of the first book and Destined to Overcome will be their story.

K - Can you tell us about Jaxon’s piercings, or would that be spoiling the book? :P

LMH - Jaxon has several piercings…very early on in the book, Sammy who is nine, asks Jaxon if he has his penis pierced. Jaxon doesn’t answer, but we do find out the answer a little later on in the book.

K - What is your favorite thing about being a writer?

LMH - I love making people smile with my stories. When I get a message from a reader telling me they loved the story, or could really relate to one of my characters, it just brings the biggest smile to my face. It truly makes all of the long hours and editing stress worth it.

K - Can you tell us about your current writing project or next release?

LMH - Sure, right now I am working on a new stand alone novel titled: Four Letters. It’s about three couples and it shows how all of their lives are intertwined.

K - Would you care to share an excerpt from it?

LMH - How about the synopsis:

In Four Letters you’ll learn all about three couples...

Sterling and Skye
Skye is a spoiled little rich girl, who has never had to do more than bat her eyelashes at her father to get whatever she wanted. When she received her degree, her plan was to open an art gallery catering to the uber rich. The last thing she needed was a man getting in her way. But, there’s just something about Sterling. He’s an alpha male that gives her what she’s always craved, the ability to let someone else take control. Could Sterling be the man Skye needs to help her relinquish control and change her spoiled ways?

Asher and Lilly
When Lilly was a small child, her parents were killed in a fire. Since the loss of her parents, she’s never truly felt loved or safe. Now that Lilly’s dream of becoming a teacher has come true, she worries that her dream of finding Mr. Right might not. That all changes the day that Asher literally runs into her in the park. Could Asher be the man to make Lilly feel safe and give her the happily ever after she’s always dreamed of?

Tanner and Adlee
To say that Adlee had a rough childhood would be quite the understatement. When she was barely ten years old, her mother killed herself, leaving Adlee in the care of her stepfather, Paul. Paul was not a nice man. When Tanner walked into the café she was working at and witnessed the way Paul treated her, he knew he had to step in. Could Tanner be the man to prove to Adlee that she is worthy of love and help her regain her self respect?

Read Four Letters to see how all of these lives are intertwined...

K - Thank you again for being a part of Shades of Pink. Any last word before I let you go back to your writing?

LMH - Thanks so much for letting me be a part of this great project…and I hope ya’ll enjoy reading about some characters that take up a big chunk of my heart. <3
