Shades of Pink Interview - Perci T. Brooks

After giving you teasers of the stories included in the Shades of Pink Charity Anthology in September, this month I'll tell you a little more about the authors involved. I interviewed them with questions about their contributions, their writing life, their works in progress...

Today,  Perci T. Brooks

Kallysten - First, thank you for being a part of this anthology. How did the idea for ‘Pink Rose’ come to you?

Perci T. Brooks - At first I had no idea what I was going to do. The first thing that came to mind was doing one where a male got breast cancer and the more I thought about it the more I wanted to do something different. So the idea of a high school girl going through having breast cancer came to mind, because it does happen and I wanted to make a straight couple where the young man falls for the girl and loves who she is.

K - Do you have a writing routine? A special place where you sit down to write? A favorite drink or snack you keep at your side while you work?

PTB - I really don’t have a special routine. I just sit in my bedroom with a cup of my favorite soda, Dr. Pepper with some chocolate and I keep my phone by my side in case I have to look up any names (I have a name app) and I always keep paper next to me.

K - What is your favorite thing about being a writer?

PTB - My favorite thing would have to be creating characters, because they can be anything I want them to be and they can be involved with anyone. I normally surprise myself when two characters I never thought of putting together end up as a couple.

K - Can you tell us about your current writing project or next release?

PTB - Actually, I have a novella entitled My Beloved Demon in the middle of having a release date. It is novella one in the My Beloved series that’ll be out before the end of the year from Tiger Dynasty Publishing in their Snow Leopard Press section that is for older adults.

K - Thank you again for being a part of Shades of Pink. Any last word before I let you go back to your writing?

PTB - Never give up on your dreams. One day they’ll come true.
